Workshop: Generative Models in Science and Machine Learning

About the workshop

The workshop takes place from Monday, September 22, 2025 to Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at the International Academic Forum („Internationales Wissenschaftsforum“) in Heidelberg. It features invited talks on current research topics of modern Mathematical Statistics focusing on Generative Models and their applications to science and Machine Learning.

Location and arrival

The picture on the left shows the International Academic Forum (IWH), which is located in the old town of Heidelberg. The address is

If you take public transport, there are three main options after arriving at Heidelberg main station („Heidelberg Hauptbahnhof“):

1. Take the S-Bahn (line S1 or S2 or S5) from the tracks 1-9 and get off at the stop „Heidelberg-Altstadt“.
   Travel time: 5 minutes.
   It is a 5-7 minute walk to the IWH from there.
2. Take the bus (line 20 or 33 or 35) from the stop in front of the train station („HD-Hauptbahnhof“) and get off at the stop „Neckarmünzplatz“ or „Heidelberg-Altstadt“.
   Travel time: 14-16 minutes.
   It is a 4-7 minute walk to the IWH from there.
3. Take the tram (line 21 or 22 or 23) from the stop in front of the train station („HD-Hauptbahnhof“), then switch to the bus (line 29 or 33 or 35) at the stop „Bismarckplatz“ and get off at the stop „Neckarmünzplatz“ or „Heidelberg-Altstadt“.
   Travel time: 14-16 minutes.
   It is a 4-7 minute walk to the IWH from there.

Accommodation

You should be informed if your accommodation is either directly at the IWH or, alternatively, at the IntercityHotel right next to the main station. For detailed check-in and check-out information, please contact either the management of the IWH or the management of the IntercityHotel.

Conference dinner

The conference dinner takes place on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Turkish Restaurant Alte Gundtei in the heart of Heidelberg’s old town.

Registration

The number of participants is limited and registration is required. If you are not invited to the conference, yet want to participate, then you can do so subsequently by sending an e-mail to the organisers Claudia Strauch or Jakob Zech until September 6, 2025. In this case, it would also be helpful if you indicate right away whether you want to attend the conference dinner, or not.
